New Appointments at Meritus

Meritus Hotels & Resorts recently made the following appointments and opened a new sales office in Germany.

Following his recent appointment as Vice President – Food & Beverage of Meritus Hotels & Resorts in April 2007, Mr Yim Choong Hing has been promoted to Senior Vice President – Regional Operations.

Yim, who is a U.S. citizen of Malaysian Chinese origin, received his university education in Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduation, Yim worked in the USA with Holiday Inn’s and Hershey Hotels before joining the Omni Hotels Corporation where he rose rapidly through the ranks to be the Corporate Food and Beverage Director. He was one of a handful of Asians who held key positions in the US hospitality industry at that time. In 1996, Yim made his first foray into Asia as Corporate Director of Food and Beverage Operations with Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts running their global operations.

From his extensive experience and diversified capacities, Yim, a dynamic hotelier, will strategize and implement the hotels’ operational strategies to coincide with the brand strategy of Meritus Hotels & Resorts in his new position.

Ms Joan Chung has joined Meritus Hotels & Resorts as Vice President, Human Resource.

Prior to her recent stint with Valuair, Joan has extensive experience in the field of human resource in various industries including hotels, general insurance, and land transportation since 1985.

Last month, the Meritus Mandarin Singapore appointed Ms Ng Sok Hia as its new Director of Sales & Marketing.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree from the National University of Singapore, Sok Hia started her career in 1987 as a sales manager and rose steadily through the ranks at Marriot Singapore and The Oriental. She was most recently in the employ of Swissotel the Stamford where she joined as Director of Sales and was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing.

Sok Hia has over 20 years experience in marketing and sales, particularly in the Travel Trade and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions).

New Global Sales Office in Germany

Meritus has increased its global presence with the opening of a new sales office in Germany. With this new addition, Meritus Hotels & Resorts is now represented in Australia / New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Japan, North America, UK and Europe.
