Travel News Asia Tuesday, 17 April 2007

InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed François Kassab as Area Director of Finance and Business Support for Oman.

While Khassab will be based at the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat, he will manage financial operations across the group’s portfolio of properties in the Sultanate, including InterContinental Muscat, Crowne Plaza Muscat, Crowne Plaza Salalah and Holiday Inn Muscat.

Kassab joins the group following several high profile roles held at major French hospitality organisations, including Finance Director positions at ‘Zourouni’ in Paris and most recently, ‘Grand Circle Corporation France’ in Dijon.

Tony Zamora, Director of Operations, InterContinental Hotels Group, Oman said, “We are delighted that Francois has joined the company and at such an exciting time for the group globally and in the Sultanate. Oman is experiencing phenomenal growth in the tourism sector and we are focusing much of our energies on a consolidated Finance and Business Support function to strengthen our brand, increase our portfolio of hotels in the region and, not least, to improve our owners’ return on investment.”

Speaking about his appointment Kaasab said, “I am thrilled to be back in the Middle East following a fulfilling decade working in Europe and believe I have picked an optimum time to become involved with the thriving success of the hospitality industry in this region, and specifically Oman.”
