John Sartain appointed General Manager of Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore

Millennium & Copthorne has appointed Mr John Sartain as General Manager of the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore. Sartain joins the hotel from Copthorne Hotel Gatwick London, where he had served as General Manager.

A British citizen, Sartain is a veteran hotelier with over 25 years of hotel industry experience. His extensive experience and distinguished career span over various continents, which included countries such as Australia and Ghana. He has worked with several international deluxe hotel chains such as Hilton Hotels, InterContinental Hotels Group and Ramada Hotels.

Sartain has also always been actively supporting the industry with his involvement in working with numerous associations including the Institute of Hospitality (previously Hotel & Catering International Management Association).

With 550 guest rooms and suites, including rooms available for the physically challenged, each guestroom at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore is equipped with business-enabling conveniences such as data port for dial-up modems, broadband internet access, a selection of cable channels and pay-movies, in-room personal safe, IDD service, hair-dryer, and coffee and tea making facilities. Room categories include Standard, Superior, Superior Plus, Club, Club Plus as well as Suites and a Presidential Suite. With the growing demand for non-smoking rooms, the hotel has recently converted six additional floors, totalling 15 floors of rooms appointed for non-smoking guests.

Guest facilities include the gymnasium, tennis courts, out-door swimming pool and jacuzzi, a business centre and 25 serviced offices offering secretarial and business support services. The hotel also offers much to satisfy all palates with Italian cuisine at the award-winning Pontini, Shanghainese cuisine at Grand Shanghai, international and Asian cuisine at Café Brio’s and live entertainment at The Piano Bar.

Combined with 35 meeting rooms across more than 6,240 square metres of meeting space at the Waterfront Conference Centre, the hotel provides meeting planners a one-stop solution for all events. From meetings to themed breaks, meals and accommodation arrangements, our dedicated Events Services Team will take care of them all. Accommodating up to 900 delegates in the column-free, 820 square-metre Grand Ballroom, with its towering six-metre high ceiling, the Waterfront Conference Centre is equipped with a full complement of meeting aids including wireless, audio-visual, intelligent light and sound facilities.
