Travel News Asia Thursday, 14 June 2007

Galileo has teamed up with the Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU Space) to enable final year tourism students to receive reservation training in the Galileo GDS. The training has been designed to provide students with a more solid vocational foundation for a successful career in tourism and related fields.

Galileo trainers conducted a three day computerized reservation training course in their Hong Kong office, equipping students with a valuable skill to apply to their chosen field. Approximately a quarter of travel agents in Hong Kong currently use Galileo, one of the fastest growing GDS in Hong Kong.

Galileo’s General Manager for Hong Kong, Mr. Hans Ebeling said, “Galileo has a track record of partnering with tourism colleges and universities across Asia. We’re delighted to be working with a well-established and reputable college like HKU Space to offer this certification training which we believe will empower future travel professionals to meet the demands of such a dynamic travel environment.”

Mr Stephen Wong, Programme Director, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Division of Management Studies, HKU Space, added, “The partnership with Galileo is another innovative step by the Institute to ensure graduates obtain the required skill set to excel in the highly competitive travel industry.”
