East Japan Railway now available through Amadeus

Travel News Asia Friday, 13 July 2007

Amadeus is now selling East Japan Railway passes on its Amadeus airline display. East Japan Railway can now provide international travellers the opportunity to purchase their rail pass in advance of travelling to Japan, while the travel agent builds the customer's travel itinerary.

The East Japan Railways Pass is an economical and flexible rail pass available for international travellers to travel around Eastern Japan. It is valid for travel on all the 72 railway lines of JR East: Five Shinkansen Super Express Lines and sixty-seven Conventional Lines. The pass area includes Tokyo's metropolitan rail system, as well as NEX the Narita/Tokyo Express Train.

"We are very pleased to be able to offer our customers access to the East Japan Railways Pass, the first railway in Asia Pacific to be available through the Amadeus airline display with AccesRail. To encourage rail providers to sell their content internationally they need a solution which is easy to use and requires little training. At Amadeus we are pleased to be able to facilitate this in a sector that has global potential for further expansion," said Albert Pozo, Managing Director, Travel & Leisure, Amadeus.

AccesRail supports rail providers who wish to sell their products and services in the GDS principal displays, by taking responsibility of all associated administrative tasks to achieve that.
