Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Thursday, 13 December  2007

nasair, a Saudi Arabia-based low cost airline, has carried 500,000 domestic passengers since its service launch last February.

nasair officials marked the special occasion by offering passenger Mr Alaa Alruhaily, one year free travel on all domestic routes for him and his parents. Alruhaily, a medicine school student at King Saud University in Riyadh, booked and payed his nasair ticket online, to visit his family in Madinah.

"Today’s celebration crowns nine months of continuous efforts by the entire nasair team and a public testimony of the service’s growing appeal within the local traveling community,” said Taher Agueel, NAS President. “With fleet expansion plans in place and the extension of service’s operation to international routes, this figure will exponentially increase over the coming six months,” said Agueel.

Last May, the airline celebrated its 100,000 passenger and later in August announced its 250,000th passenger when it broke the one million miles barrier. nasair is aiming to break the 10 million passengers barrier by 2011.

On November 3rd, the airline completed its obligatory domestic grid with a flight schedule covering 25 domestic from the capital Riyadh with 365 weekly flights.
