Kids Sail Free on MSC Cruises European Packages

Travel News Asia Thursday, 12 July 2007

International cruise line, MSC Cruises, is expanding its innovative “Kids Sail Free” programme to European itineraries this summer enabling families to conveniently take advantage of this special offer for the first time.

The Italy-based company extends the incentive to Mediterranean and Northern Europe sailings. The move allows children under 18 to travel free (excluding flights and government taxes) when accompanied by two paying guests.

MSC Cruises’ family packages offer a hassle-free way for parents and children alike to expand their horizons. Modern, luxury vessels, excellent recreational facilities and friendly, professional staff create a safe, relaxed on-board lifestyle while multi-destination itineraries open up the world for parents and children alike.

MSC Cruises’ European itineraries give children of all ages a valuable chance for on-the-spot encounters with the history, culture and natural wonders of a number of different countries. Back on board, they can also expand their international perspectives by making friends with their shipmates from around the world and practising their language skills in everyday situations.

Meanwhile, parents are free to unwind and enjoy quality time with their children or take time out on deck, at the pool, or in the gym, secure in the knowledge that youngsters are being well looked after by MSC Cruises’ qualified staff. All the line’s vessels provide superior facilities and services with young travellers in mind. The Mini-Club is open to children from three to 10 years. Playrooms are available for tots while the virtual reality centre and Internet cafe keep teenagers in the loop. Supervised activities range from painting classes to treasure hunts, arts & crafts to mini-Olympics. A wide selection of universal games, including chess, cards, modelling clay and plasticine, are also on hand. At mealtimes, children’s menus cater for younger tastes.

One of the great advantages of a cruise is there is no need to keep packing up to reach different ports of call. In addition, ships often sail through the night enabling every family member to arrive relaxed, recharged and ready for the day ahead.

In 2007, the “Kids Sail Free” programme applies on MSC Armonia, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Lirica, MSC Opera, MSC Musica and MSC Orchetra. The Kid sails free programme only applies for fly cruise packages.

MSC Armonia (1,566 passengers) starts and ends in Venice (Italy) with stops at Bari (Italy), Mykonos and Santorini (Greek islands) Piraeus (Greek mainland), Corfu (Greek island) and Dubrovnik (Croatia). MSC Sinfonia (1,566 passengers) visits Monte Carlo (Monaco), Valencia (Spain), Valletta (Malta), Tunis (Tunisia), Civitavecchia/Rome (Italy). The cruise starts and ends in Genoa (Italy).

In the cooler summer climes of Northern Europe, MSC Lirica (1,560 passengers) and MSC Opera (1,700 passengers) offer separate routes round the stunning Norwegian Fjords. Among the stops are Oslo (Norway), Bergen and Stavanger. Both also sail to different Baltic city destinations. Included are Stockholm (Sweden), Tallinn (Estonia), St Petersburg (Russia) and Helsinki (Finland). Passengers join and leave the ships at Copenhagen (Denmark).

Some of the eye-opening cultural sights and activities include St Mark’s Square and a ride on a gondola (Venice, Italy), Little Mermaid (Copenhagen, Denmark), and an excursion to beautiful Portofino (Genoa, Italy).

Meanwhile, MSC Cruises’ eighth vessel, MSC Orchestra, launches in May. The state-of-the-art ship will stop at Bari (Italy), Katakolon (Greece), Izmir (Turkey), and Dubrovnik (Croatia). Passengers embark and disembark in Venice.
