Yoo opens Office in Hong Kong

Travel News Asia Friday, 10 August 2007

Yoo, the international branding, design and investment property company co-founded in 1998 by Philippe Starck and John Hitchcox has launched an Asian office in Hong Kong, further consolidating its presence in the region following the success of both JIA, the boutique hotel in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong and The Yamu and Cape Yamu in Phuket.

Combining the skills of Philippe Starck, one of the most celebrated and commercially successful designers and John Hitchcox, one of Europe's most innovative design-based property developers, Yoo is more than just a design blueprint for the new 'design' way of living. Yoo bring the principles of design excellence and attention to detail to create high fashion living spaces at accessible prices.

In 2006 Jade Jagger joined Yoo as Creative Director of 'Jade Jagger for Yoo' and launched her first project the 'Jade' in Manhattan's Chelsea district.

"We see the opportunity for branded design oriented development in the Asian region to be significant, and as such are pleased to announce the opening of our Asia office in Hong Kong," said John Hitchcox, CEO and co-founder of Yoo. "Yoo takes pride of its unique approach that makes projects attract attention, so as to increase demand, enhance value and maximise sales.''

The Asian office is headed by Managing Director Paul Dingley who said, "Our objective is to expand Yoo's innovative design, marketing and investment business in Asia. We are now seeking likeminded partners who recognise the added value that design and branding can bring to property development."

Over the past eight years Yoo have been working with international partners on a variety of tall buildings and large residential projects across the world including New York, Miami, Boston, London, Melbourne, Sydney, Panama City, Puerto Rico, Kiev, Dubai, Hong Kong, Mumbi Hamburg, Tel Aviv, Munich, Toronto, and Phuket. Currently they have in excess of $10 billion under development and 25,000 apartments under construction. Project sizes vary but are typically in excess of 50 and extending up to 2000 units. Internationally Yoo provide design and branding services and can also invest in projects they are involved in.

Yoo shares in the added value brought to its project partner's developments and has been successful in achieving consistent sales premiums of between 5% - 15% for its partner's on international projects to date.
