Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Wednesday, 10 October 2007

If you're in Singapore between October 19 – 21, 2007, then don't miss the Brilliant Blend Fair, where you'll be able to sip good South Australian wines, learn some interesting facts about the State, taste outstanding delicacies like the renowned Coffin Bay Oysters and Wagyu Beef, and delight in a guitar performance as a preview to the Adelaide Guitar Festival.

Presented by the State Government of South Australia and the South Australian Tourism Commission, the Brilliant Blend Fair will be held at Central Atrium, Marina Square, Singapore.

Altogether, there will be 24 exhibitors comprising South Australian wine and food producers, education establishments and travel agencies all geared to highlight the different types of holiday programmes in the State. Here’s a sampling of some of the highlights of the 3-day event:

Wine Sampling: Tickle your taste buds by sampling the different wines of South Australia from the famous vineyards of the 200-years old Barossa region, Clare Valley, Mclaren Vale, Langhorne Creek. South Australia produces and exports about 75% of Australia’s wines.

Delicious Oysters: Try the premium quality oysters farmed in the natural and nutrient rich water of Coffin Bay in the Eyre Peninsula.

Wagyu Beef: The highly marbled meat of the Japanese Wagyu cattle, is grazed in the rich pastures of the Limestone Coast. The beef has high levels of marbling which has a very positive influence in eating quality on all cuts. The marbling also helps to avoid moisture loss during cooking and enhances flavour, tenderness and juiciness during eating.

Guitar Performance by Kerrianne Cox: More than a singer/songwriter, Kerrianne is a catalyst for change and a leader with an uncanny and soulful ability to touch people with her songs – not just as an Aboriginal person, but as a human being. As an internationally-renowned independent Aboriginal performing artist, she has been able to do just that on a global scale. Her signature song Beagle Bay Dreaming has brought her beloved home and country into the hearts and minds of people all over the world. This performance is a preview to the inaugural International Adelaide Guitar Festival, which will be held between 23 November and 2 December in Adelaide.

Kids Colouring Contest: A colouring contest for children under 12 on 20 and 21 October 2007. Children can pick up their contest colouring sheets featuring images of South Australian icons such as sea lions, horse drawn tram, and big rocking horse at the fair from 10 a.m. onwards and complete their creativity using supplied crayons in 20 minutes.

Draw: Stand a chance to win a free holiday to Adelaide when you spend Sin$30 and above at any of the booths at the event. The prize comprises a pair of economy class air ticket to Adelaide on Singapore Airlines and 2 nights hotel accommodation.

Finest Olives from South Australia: Sample unique olive spread from South Australia made out of the finest Kalamata olives marinated with chilli, garlic, and oregano. The spread can be used on gourmet crisp bread or crackers or to add taste to a casserole or sauce or on pizza bases.

Abalone Delight: The waters surrounding the Eyre Peninsula have one of the greatest diversities of temperate marine species in the Southern Hemisphere giving the ultimate opportunity to grow, harvest and export some of the finest seafood in Australia. The region produces more than 60% of seafood and its sought-after abalone will be showcased at the event.
