Travel News Asia Wednesday, 9 August 2006

Le Meridien Al Aqah on the UAE's East Coast resort has a superb set of events lined up to keep guests of all ages thoroughly entertained during their stay.

The hotel has employed a highly-qualified animation team who organize indoor and outdoor activities for the guests throughout the day. These include water polo, beach volleyball, water aerobics, croquet, boccia, darts, family fun games, poolside bingo and Arabic lessons. The animation team is also responsible for organizing tours within the hotel, for guests who want a behind-the-scenes look at how the hotel is run.

In the evening members of the team transform into artistes, recreating famous Broadway and musical plays on a stage specially built for this purpose.

Guests receive a daily newsletter that highlights all these special activities and more, giving them the opportunity to plan their day around these exciting events.

“At Al Aqah we remain committed to providing the ultimate holiday experience for all visitors, regardless of age. Our summer offer, designed to offer residents a welcome respite from city life and the sweltering heat, has been incredibly well received, and is further complemented by the enthusiastic animation team and their fabulous array of summer activities and variety shows,” said Patrick Antaki, general manager, Le Meridien Al Aqah.

Once a week, the animation team organizes an innovative ‘Dive In Cinema’, where a giant movie screen is installed in the pool area and guests can watch movies while lying on inflatable rafts or sun-beds. A selection of classic films such as Jaws, Grease and Saturday Night Fever, can be enjoyed.

“One of the added advantages of the summer entertainment showcase is that it allows parents to relax while they’re children are well-taken off by hotel staff and entertained by the animators. The numerous activities planned for kids combine learning with fun and encourage them to let their imagination run wild,” added Antaki.

Young guests can also enjoy the facilities of the hotel’s Penguin Club, a secure playing area specially designed for children between 4 and 12 and manned by qualified staff composed of a nurse and a teacher and two assistants, ensuring that the children are safe. Here hourly activities like sand castle competitions, badminton, paper and painting challenges, water sports, puzzles, face painting, as well as singing and dancing competitions are organized to keep children busy. A movie room also showcases the latest cartoons and family entertainment titles for their viewing pleasure.

Guests who take advantage of the special summer offer starting at AED 299 per person per night on weekdays – which is valid till September 15th 2006 – will also receive complimentary breakfast in addition to a meal at Views restaurant.
