Last Chance for Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2006 Tickets

Travel News Asia 9 February 2006

The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU) today announced the ticketing mechanism for the last 500 tickets for the Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2006.

To offer the fairest process and ensure that the last remaining tickets are available to the local community, the opportunity to purchase the remaining event tickets will be determined by ballot draw for Hong Kong residents.

Details of the campaign will run in upcoming advertisements in the South China Morning Post and Apple Daily newspapers starting Monday 13 February 2006. The advertisements will run on Monday (13 February), Wednesday (15 February), and Friday (17 February). The official ballot for the ticket draw will be printed in the advertisement on Friday 17 February.

Those fans who want to enter the draw for the last chance to purchase tickets will be required to return the completed ballot form by 5pm on Saturday February 25. Completed ballots can either be posted to the HKRFU Office (Room 2001, Olympic House, So Kon Po, Causeway Bay) or delivered by hand to the Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens Official Merchandise Shop (Shop B11 – 12, The Landmark, Central). Only one entry will be accepted per participant. No photocopied ballots will be accepted and all participants must be aged 12 or over.

A draw of all returned ballots will be held on 27 February. Two hundred and fifty (250) successfully drawn entries will be notified by the HKRFU. Those whose ballots are drawn will have two weeks from date of notification to purchase their tickets from the HKRFU Office in Olympic House, So Kon Po, Causeway Bay. Each successfully drawn entry will be able to purchase two (2) adult tickets to the Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2006; all children’s tickets for the event have been sold. Ticket prices are HK$880 each.

Mr Allan Payne, Executive Director of the HKRFU and Tournament Director of the Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2006 commented on the ticket draw saying, “After a strong public response and a very successful public ticket sale in December, the HKRFU are pleased to provide a final opportunity for residents and long-time supporters of the Hong Kong Sevens to secure tickets for this year’s event. After a full audit of tickets, we felt a ballot system was the fairest way of ensuring that the final remaining tickets are sold within Hong Kong.”

“We are very pleased that we have been able to sell the majority of event tickets within the Hong Kong community, including those tickets sold to the Hong Kong rugby community, sponsors, patrons and through our public ticket sales,” added Payne.
