New Luxury Boutique Resort managed by ike hotels opens in Thailand

Travel News Asia 9 January 2006

The Tusita Resort & Spa opened for business on December 29th in Chumphon Province, Thailand. Positioning itself as a luxury boutique-style property on the newest natural beach and adventure destination in Southern Thailand, the Tusita Resort & Spa is located on Arunothai Beach in Chumphon province.

The resort is represented by ike hotels, a new management company that has grown out of The Unique Collection of Resorts and Hotels, a company launched in December 2005, ike hotels provides management services in Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, Training and Quality Assurance, and support for all departments for owners of independent hotels and resorts.

Peter Kaelli, chief executive officer of ike hotels, commented, “We are delighted to be able to be a part of such an exciting new product in what is sure to be a special destination.”

Arunothai Beach is a beautiful pristine, beach still undiscovered by mass tourism. Many stunning limestone islands lie within view. It is also the closest mainland access point to Koh Tao, which is a premier diving site in the Gulf of Thailand. The area is ideal for couples, families, honeymooners and the adventurous who want to escape the hustle and bustle of crowded resorts.

With 21 well-appointed units built on stilts in traditional Thai style and sited on nearly 2 hectares of gardens and ponds, Tusita Resort & Spa consists of four room types: The Nimman: 45 sq. meters; The Wiman: 56 sq meters with private outdoor shower and balcony; The Wimantip: 80 sq meters with Jacuzzi, steam room and private outdoor shower; and finally The Tusita Residence a lavish 150 sq meters unit with two bedrooms, living room, reading room, two bathrooms, outdoor deck with open air bathtub and rain shower and DVD player.

All units have individually controlled air-conditioning, mini bar, in-room safe, rain showers, hairdryer, IDD telephone, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, CD player and satellite TV.

The spa has two treatment rooms and 2 outdoor massages “Salas” and a swimming pool located in the center of the resort. A business center and small gym are available as well.

A spacious restaurant, Murraya, serving Thai and western cuisine is open for all meal periods and there is also a meeting room adjacent. The beach club serves food and drinks and can also be used as a venue for private dinners and beach barbecues looking out on the Gulf of Thailand. A more informal restaurant, Paktako Seafood Restaurant serves up fresh catches.

A speedboat is also on hand at the beach club to take guests to the islands for swimming, snorkeling and picnicking; to seafood farms where they can choose their own seafood to be prepared back at the resort. Fishing trips with local fisherman can also be arranged.

Chumphon province is famous in Thailand as a center of tropical fruit production: the resort arranges trips, via car or bicycle to the many orchards that produce mangosteens, rambutans, coconuts and durians among others. There are also numerous natural attractions nearby including a national park with mountains, jungle trekking, white-water rafting, caving and waterfalls.
