InterContinental Hotels Group to establish Crowne Plaza in New Delhi

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed an agreement with Today Hotels Pvt. Ltd. to manage the brand new Crowne Plaza Gurgaon New Delhi, scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2006.

Situated in the heart of Leisure Valley, the new city centre of Gurgaon, which comprises an ultramodern commercial, cultural and entertainment hub, the Crowne Plaza Gurgaon will be the first brand-defining Crowne Plaza hotel in India.

“Positioned as The Place To Meet, the Crowne Plaza is primarily a brand that has been developed to appeal to business travellers, professional meetings organisers and conference delegates,” said Jan Smits, Chief Operating Officer, Southern Asia, InterContinental Hotels Group. “The Crowne Plaza Gurgaon is targeted at this segment, which has shown strong growth in line with the robust Indian economy. Travellers and residents alike will soon find a hotel offering the unique products and services they have come to appreciate at other Crowne Plaza hotels worldwide.”

Today Hotels is working closely with leading international consultants in the development of this property, and are committed to building more five-star hotels in other major commercial and leisure destinations across India.

The Crowne Plaza Gurgaon will offer spacious guest rooms, extensive meeting space and Crowne Plaza’s trademark Meeting Success programme. The hotel features a ballroom capable of holding up to 400 guests with its own separate street entry, as well as nine purpose-built meeting rooms. 

Only a 20-minute drive from the international and domestic airport and within easy access from the capital city via the soon-to-open Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, the centrally located Crowne Plaza Gurgaon will be in close proximity to famous shopping malls and major businesses located along the National Highway 8.

The Crowne Plaza Gurgaon will have a total of 234 guest rooms including 15 suites and a Presidential Suite with a 270-degree view roof garden. The hotel will also have a full range of recreational and dining facilities including three restaurants, a large, well-equipped gym and health club as well as an infinity pool overlooking a central courtyard.
