Travel News Asia Wednesday, 8 November 2006

Royal Phuket Marina is to host one of the final parties of Asia's premier yachting regatta, the Phuket King's Cup, on Friday, December 8, 2006.

It will be the second year running that Thailand’s world-class “Luxury Lifestyle Marina” stages an extravaganza for approximately 800 yachtsmen and guests.

The 20th Phuket King’s Cup Regatta is being contested from December 2nd to 9th in the Andaman Sea, off Kata Beach. The regatta was recently named 'Yachting Event of the Year' at the Christofle Asia Boating Awards and attracts about 100 racing yachts and crews from around the world.

The Royal Phuket Marina party, held after five days of racing, is famed as one of Asia's liveliest, and this year RPM promises yet again another fabulous celebration including live entertainment, fireworks, international DJs and performers.

Royal Phuket Marina has established itself as Phuket's 'marina party central' and a highly sought-after event venue since opening just over a year ago.

The event will be held in the Marina's Town Square and, “It will be another spectacular event here in Phuket,” stated RPM PR & Event Manager, Jeanette Skelton. “We offer an ideal, waterfront venue for the closing party and yet another opportunity to celebrate in grand style!”

Royal Phuket Marina will also sponsor and partner with the upcoming Rubson Raid Turquoise from December 9th to 16th. Housing and prepping the boats before and after each race as well as offering a station for the administration and coordination of race activities, Royal Phuket Marina will host an extravagant prize-giving ceremony on Saturday, December 16th which will include several government and affiliated officials.
