Reed Travel Exhibitions announces AIME 2006 Award Winners

Reed Travel Exhibitions announced the winners of the AIME 2006 Awards at a spectacular dinner - Viva AIME Carnivale - at the Crown Towers in Melbourne, following the first day of the 14th AsiaPacific Incentives & Meetings Expo.

The AIME Awards for Stand Design - in four categories - and Industry Person of the Year (International and Asia Pacific) were presented by the Victorian Minister of Tourism and Rosemarie Sama, AIME Event Director.

The AIME Awards for Stand Design went to:

- Best Single Exhibitor Stand - Flemington - The Event Centre
- Best Multi Exhibitor Stand - Tourism Malaysia
- Most Creative Stand Design - Abu Dhabi
- Best New Exhibitor Stand - Papua New Guinea

The Industry Person of the Year – International – went to Robin Lokerman, CEO, Institutional Division of leading pan-European association and event management company MCI.

Robin oversees a staff of 130 in MCI offices throughout Europe, the Middle East and Singapore. He played a major role in the development of MPI in Europe, with GCI his previous company responsible for the association management of what is one of the world’s largest professional bodies in the meetings industry.

Paul Kennedy MBE, Group Exhibition Director, Meetings & Incentive Events, Reed Travel Exhibitions said that the award recognised Robin Lokerman’s outstanding contribution to the industry.

“Robin Lokerman has contributed to the industry over many years and is an accomplished presenter who gives generously of his time in the recognition and development of our industry,” Mr Kennedy said.

The Industry Person of the Year – Asia Pacific – went to Sandra Passaro, Director – Business Tourism, Gold Coast Tourism Corporation.

“Sandra is the longest standing employee at Gold Coast Tourism and one of the industry founders in attracting meetings and incentive groups to the Gold Coast Region. She has contributed to both the industry within her region and as a whole and is highly regarded in Asia Pacific,” said Rosemarie Sama.
