Spiritual Tour Guide takes Hotel de la Paix Spa Indochine to New Heights

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 5 September 2006

The luxury spa at the Hotel de la Paix in Siem Reap, Cambodia is teaming up with UK-born artist and therapeutic pioneer Nicky Kassapian to offer a range of uniquely tailored treatments inspired by Angkor Wat, one of the world’s most spiritual destinations.

Ms Kassapian, described as “the young lady with a thousand years of experience”, will join Hotel de la Paix’s Spa Indochine as Master in Residence from 11 September until the end of the month.

“There’s something magnetic at Angkor Wat. It’s a feeling that escapes words, but I’ve been working on ways to channel this power into my treatments,” said Ms Kassapian, who counts some of Cambodia’s most famous visitors among her clients at The Centre, Southeast Asia’s trend-setting holistic clinic.

“We are delighted that Nicky’s been able to join us,” said Mr Joseph Polito, the general manager of Hotel de la Paix. “She’s been working very closely with our staff for some time now on innovative treatments that get to the real heart of the Angkor Wat experience.”

“There’s been a huge boom in the spa business in Asia, and I think this is a good thing, but my aim is to reclaim the energy and techniques of the past so we can open paths to a more energetic future. I see my treatments as inner journeys, a kind of education,” Ms Kassapian explained. “I’m a tour guide for the spirit.”

Her treatments draw their power from Yoga, Meditation, Reiki and other ancient techniques for transformation. Hotel de la Paix is able – for the first time – to arrange special sessions for its guests at various temple sites at Angkor Wat.

Hotel de la Paix’s Spa Indochine has been rated one of the 10 best “Spiritual Spas” by Asia Spa magazine, placed on the “Hot List” of Conde Naste Traveller’s UK and US editions, and praised in pages of The New York Times, The Independent and Time Magazine. The 3-story spa, which overlooks the hotel’s swimming pool, is inspired by ancient Khmer water gardens. It offers three double and two single treatment rooms, an open-air deluxe suite, Thai massage and expansive rooftop relaxation terrace.
