New Appointments at Hilton Chongqing

The Hilton Chongqing recently appointed Sven Isberg as the hotel’s new General Manager and Fintan O’Doherty as Director of Operations.

Sven Isberg is responsible for the smooth operation of the hotels’ 437 guest rooms and suites  as well as overseeing the planning and implementation of all business strategies for the hotel.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Sven commenced his career at the Ramada Renaissance Hotel in Hamburg. Thereafter, he worked with Hyatt in the USA, before joining the Hilton family in 1986. Sven began his Hilton career as Food and Beverage Management Trainee at the Munich Park Hilton, and rose through the ranks to become Food and Beverage Manager of Hilton Istanbul in 1991. In 1993, Sven was appointed Food and Beverage Manager for Hilton Seoul, and moved to Hilton Taipei in 1995, as Executive Assistant Manager. In 1999, Sven took the helm of Hilton Beijing, becoming the youngest Hilton General Manager at the age of 35. Prior to assuming leadership at Hilton Chongqing, Sven was the General Manager of The Parmelia Hilton Perth.

Familiar with Asia and China in particular, Sven moved to Chongqing with his wife, Iris, and their son, Justin.

Born in Sligo Republic, Ireland, Fintan O’Doherty graduated with an MBA from Durham University Business School. Fintan had worked in various hotels in Ireland and Ukraine, and spent the last 16 years in hospitality industry in United Kingdom. Fintan joined Hilton International in September 2001, as the Director of Operations at Hilton Manchester Airport. Prior to joining Hilton Chongqing, Fintan was working at Hilton London Green Park.
