CNN Anchor Richard Quest named Master of Ceremonies for Reach Out To Asia Gala Dinner

Travel News Asia Monday, 30 October 2006

Well-known international media personality Richard Quest is to be the official Master of Ceremonies for the second year running at this week’s Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) charity Gala Dinner in Doha.

Quest is one of CNN International’s most high profile TV broadcasters, presenting news, current affairs and business, reporting from all corners of the world. A familiar face on TV, London-based Quest also fronts his own monthly shows, Quest, and the lifestyle travel programme, CNN Business Traveller.

The Reach Out To Asia Gala Dinner, drawing a guest list from the Who’s Who of the entertainment, sporting, social and political world, will be held on November 4 at The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha, capital of the State of Qatar. It is billed as a ‘must-attend’ social event of the year in Qatar.

The event is being held under the auspices of The Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. His sister Her Highness Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has been the driving force behind Reach Out To Asia, a non-profit making government organisation based in Qatar.

Sheikha Mayassa said she was delighted to once again welcome Richard Quest to be the Master of Ceremonies at this year’s Gala Dinner.

“Richard Quest is a well known face and a celebrity in his own right. With his inimitable style of reporting from all corners of the globe, he has captured the attention of viewers around the world,” she said.

“We look forward to welcoming him, his presence, humour and huge personality in Doha on November 4 for what will be a night to remember. As Master of Ceremonies, Richard Quest promises to entertain a very special audience in his own very special way.

“With his own distinguished style and flair to excite a TV audience, I am sure he will be able to captivate guests at the charity dinner and get them to reach into their pockets and support such an important cause.”

Reach Out To Asia looks to extend the hand of friendship and help ease the plight of the suffering in many countries across Asia which are experiencing serious social difficulties in terms of poverty, inadequate healthcare, homelessness, disease and natural disasters, such as last year’s devastating earthquake in Pakistan, which killed more than 70,000 people.
