Celebrate Christmas and New Year Sri Lankan style at Kani Lanka Resort and Spa

The luxurious Kani Lanka Resort and Spa in Sri Lanka is located on the tip of the Kalu Ganga River, surrounded by coconut groves and with a private beachfront on the Indian Ocean. Kani Lanka Resort and Spa is offering guests a special festive season, which includes a week of fun-filled activities and traditional Sri Lankan experiences.

Guests can participate in the preparation of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine with local chefs and can also learn about the tradition of ‘Toddy Tapping’ demonstrated by a local man. Guests will also meet the ‘Spice Girls’ from the fishing village nearby, who will demonstrate how to prepare spicey dishes and sweet mix.

Feel the magic on the 24th December when just after sunset, children can see Santa arriving at the resort on a traditional catamaran. Children can meet Santa along the Kalu Ganga River and each will receive a gift. A Christmas lunch will be held at the Palm Restaurant on Christmas day and there will be an ‘Around the Globe’ menu available in the evening. A selection of organised games will be held throughout the day.

Spectacular evening entertainment throughout the festive week includes, special Christmas cocktails at the Karadiya Bar, a barbecue on the pool terrace and musical performances from a live Jazz Band and a solo guitarist. On Christmas day, Sri Lankan dancers and drummers will entertain the guests with their breathtaking routines. There will also be the chance to win an authentic Sri Lankan gem from one of the local moonstone mines.

The New Year extravaganza starts with sunset cocktails by a bonfire, accompanied by calypso music to get the guests relaxed and ready to party. Guests can then enjoy a spectacular gala dinner on the terrace, where the chefs will prepare local specialities, as well as other cuisines from around the world. Celebrations continue after dinner with music and drinks at the Karadiya Bar by the pool. The New Year is welcomed in with champagne and fireworks. There will be a selection of prizes up for grabs and one lucky couple will win the Grand Raffle Draw; the top prize is one week’s holiday at Kani Lanka Resort and Spa.

Guests can wake up on New Years day to a champagne breakfast delivered directly to their room. Guests can also enjoy a special brunch as well as afternoon tea. The evening will be full of surprises as a special Sri Lankan Cultural Show will be held at the Karadiya bar.

Prices for a double room at Kani Lanka Resort and Spa start from approximately £45 (US$ 80) per night. Activities and entertainment are free. Lunches and dinner are dependent on board. Alcohol is not included. The optional champagne breakfast costs approximately £6.
