Dragonair's Summer Schedule sees rise in Frequencies

Travel News Asia 28 March 2006

Dragonair has raised passenger frequencies on 10 China Mainland destinations and three non-Mainland cities in its summer schedule, which commenced 26 March and runs until 28 October. The new timetable also sees the launch of a new destination, Shenyang.

Under the summer schedule, services to Shanghai have increased, along with flights to Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guilin, Hangzhou, Kunming, Nanjing, Sanya and Xian. Tokyo, Kaohsiung and Phnom Penh are the destinations outside the Mainland that also see increased frequencies.

“We will be operating 16 flights a day between Hong Kong and Shanghai, for a total of 112 a week, to meet demand,” said Chief Executive Officer Stanley Hui. “Some 30 additional flights a week will be operated to nine other Mainland cities.”

Cities seeing rises include Chengdu, from daily to twice a day, Nanjing from nine a week to 14, and Sanya and Xian, both from two a week to four. Tokyo will see a second Friday flight added, while Phnom Penh will be served by five flights a week, up from four.

“We are also looking forward to adding our 23rd Mainland destination, Shenyang,” Mr. Hui said. “We will fly to this important northeastern hub city three times a week via Dalian.”

Meanwhile, the airline’s cargo schedule will see freighter services to Frankfurt increased by one, to four a week.

“New traffic rights mean we are able to boost our service to Frankfurt in the heart of Europe, providing shippers with greater flexibility,” noted Mr. Hui.
