Travel News Asia 27 March 2006

Large crowds of visitors from Dubai and neighbouring emirates continue to head to Nakheel’s Dragon Complex as new services and products are introduced at Dragon Mart, the dragon-shaped shopping destination that is home to a comprehensive range of Chinese products.

Visitors to Dragon Complex, comprising the Dragon Mart, warehouses and residential units, located at International City, can now enjoy a range of services such as banking, express mail, car rental and several other services from Standard Chartered Bank, Emirates Post, Emirates Driving Institute, and DHL who have recently opened their offices at the Mart.

Abdullah Lootah, General Manager, Dragon Complex, said, “Ever since its opening, Dragon Mart has been attracting thousands of visitors looking to buy the very best of Chinese products. The Dragon Mart is a comprehensive offering not only for customers, but also for the wholesale and retail traders, with a range of facilities within the warehouses and residences and services available at the Mart.”

The 150,000 square meter Dragon Mart is one of the largest trading hubs for products from China outside the Chinese mainland and offers an array of Chinese products under one roof. The dragon-shaped structure currently houses 3,950 shops, involved in wholesale and retail trade of a wide variety of Chinese products including home appliances, stationery, communication and acoustic equipments, building materials, furniture, toys, machinery, textiles, footwear and general merchandise. In addition, the Mart has coffee shops, conference rooms, business center and offers parking space for more than 2,500 cars.

One of the major factors that differentiate Dragon Mart from other malls is that it is located just 200 meters away from eight fully equipped warehouses which are being used by the traders. With a total area of 30,000 square meters and two warehouses with cold storage facilities, the warehouses serve as a convenient facility for traders of all kinds of products.

The Dragon Complex also offers affordable residence in the form of 25 buildings located just 200 meters away from the mart. These buildings consist of 1,840 fully furnished studio, one and two bedroom apartments, with retail space on the ground floor.

The Dragon Mart is open to visitors from 10 am to 10 pm from Saturday to Thursday and from 2 pm to 10:30 pm on Fridays.
