New identity for Thailand's Rose Garden

Travel News Asia 26 January 2006

The Rose Garden is marking its 42nd anniversary by adopting a new identity as “Rose Garden Riverside”, highlighting the traditional Thai way of life by the river.

Mrs Suchada Yuvaboon, Chairperson of Rose Garden Riverside said that the management has modernized the facilities and improved services, while keeping in mind the distinct Thai touch in this re-launch campaign.

Among the major changes are the names – from Rose Garden Country Resort to “Rose Garden Riverside (Suan Sampran)” and the logo carries the symbols of “Carp” (pla tapien) (a type of barb which is a fresh water fish indigenous to Thailand) and the stream. Conference services and more Thai cultural activities constitute other areas of reform.

The Riverside Hotel is now ready to offer 12 conference and seminar rooms for all sectors of clientele from routine meetings to VIP-type service that requires opulent exclusivity. All meeting facilities have their own characters. For example, one may want to use the meeting room on board the rice barge afloat on the river. Others may prefer to conduct meetings in the antique Chinese pavilion by the lake; in ancient aristocratic tradition in the Thai house; or in the relaxing ambience of the garden shades.

“Meeting facilities in these settings are available only at the Rose Garden Riverside because we have the facilities and resources on hand. That is why a number of companies that have used the meeting facilities on the barge, or in the orchard are very satisfied,” said Mrs. Suchada.

The Riverside Hotel has also installed a Wireless LAN system in various areas within the compound for clients who wish to keep up with work while relaxing.

“We chose to present the “carp” and the stream in our logo because the fish symbolizes the fertility of the river and because the improvement we undertook this time was not restricted to just physical infrastructure. We also have plans to develop other aspects that are related to Thai traditional lifestyle by the river which is fading from today’s lifestyle,” said Mrs. Suchada.

The “Thai Style” activities venue is around the cluster of Thai villages that make Rose Garden Riverside unique. Every morning, guests can choose to participate in any of 12 activities ranging from Thai classical music, Thai classical dance, fruit and vegetable carving, making garland, ceramic workshop, self-defense art, silk weaving, etc. In the afternoon, the cultural activities will feature the diversity of Thailand’s regional cultures.

Moreover, the Riverside Hotel has renovated its spa service and now Arusaya Spa is ready to provide healing and wellness in accordance to traditional knowledge.

With the renovation of conference rooms, restaurants and other facilities completed, the Riverside Hotel will start renovating the 77 rooms in the Phetchkasem Wing and in March and with completion expected by end of 2006.

To celebrate the re-branding, the Rose Garden Riverside is offering special packages for meeting groups, senior citizens and families planning a summer vacation. For clients who choose to hold meetings in the Chinese pavilion and the traditional Thai house, green fees will be waived for up to 15 players at The Rose Garden Golf Course. Other participants will be entitled to a green fee discount; or up to 30% discount at Arusaya Spa between January to June 2006.

For visitors aged over 60, the Rose Garden Riverside is offering a room package inclusive of breakfast and tickets to the daily cultural show in the Thai village (one senior citizen plus one caregiver) at the price of 2,999 baht (up to 60% discount off the normal rate) applicable only on Sundays-Thursdays throughout 2006.
