Starwood signs Two New Four Points by Sheraton Hotels in China

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed two new hotels in China: the Four Points by Sheraton Tianjin, Zhongshan and Four Points by Sheraton Hangzhou, Binjiang.

The new-build Four Points by Sheraton Tianjin, Zhongshan is scheduled to open in mid-2008.

The hotel will be located within a mixed-use development consisting of the hotel, offices, retail outlets and residential units on Zhongshan Road in Hebei district, one of the earliest industrial districts in Tianjin. The hotel is about 40 minutes by car from Tianjin Binhai International Airport and is in close proximity to the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development area and tourist attractions like Dabei Temple, Wanghailou Cathedral and Santiaoshi Museum. Four Points by Sheraton Tianjin, Zhongshan will feature 300 rooms, 7,500 square feet of meeting space, three restaurants, an indoor heated swimming pool, health club and spa, and a business center.

Tianjin is one of China’s four municipalities, in addition to Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing, and is about 2 hours by car from the capital city, Beijing. With a population of more than 10 million, Tianjin is one of China’s biggest industrial centers and one of the country’s key ports, with manufacturing, petrochemical, textiles and mechanical industries as main sectors contributing towards its strong yearly Gross Domestic Product growth of over 10%. Tianjin will also be one of the 5 main competition venues (outside of Beijing) for the upcoming 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing, which undoubtedly will benefit the municipality and surrounding areas of Beijing, including Tianjin.

The new-build Four Points by Sheraton Hangzhou, Binjiang is also scheduled to open in mid-2008.

Four Points by Sheraton Hangzhou, Binjiang will be located within a mixed-use development consisting of the hotel, residential units and a sports center in the hi-tech ( Binjiang ) district in Hangzhou. To be built as a new downtown of Hangzhou city and a technology new town, Binjiang district is well planned and built for education, scientific research, trade and residential, with high-tech industries being its main pillar. The hotel is about 30 minutes by car from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and within 20 minutes drive from the Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area. Four Points by Sheraton Hangzhou, Binjiang will feature 350 rooms, 17,100 square feet of meeting space, 2 restaurants, health club, an indoor swimming pool and a business center.

Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province on the Yangtze River Delta. Located approximately 180 kilometers southwest of Shanghai, Hangzhou is an ancient imperial city, renowned for its natural beauty. During the last 10 years, Hangzhou has transformed into a modern city with high tech industries, especially in the areas of pharmaceutical and software development. The output of information and technology products in Hangzhou accounted for one-third of that of Zhejiang province and is ranked fourth in China (after Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai).
