Indonesia AirAsia, AirAsia’s associate in Indonesia, is to further expand its international route offerings by introducing daily flights between Medan - Penang, and Surabaya – Kuala Lumpur. These new routes will commence 10 March 2006.

Following the recent addition of a fifth Boeing 737-300s to its operations, Indonesia AirAsia will also commence domestic flights between Balikpapan and Surabaya, and increase frequency between Jakarta and Surabaya. The airline presently operates 3 daily Jakarta – Surabaya flights, totaling 21 flights per week. The latest addition will boost frequencies between Jakarta and Surabaya to 28 flights per week.

“Indonesia AirAsia is thrilled to offer more connectivity between Indonesia and Malaysia. Our route expansion plans are aimed at delivering more convenience and linking more places of interest together in order to serve the needs of our guests. We are confident that these new routes will serve to stimulate more travel and growth prospects between Indonesia and Malaysia.

“Indonesia AirAsia has continued to show tremendous progress and growth since commencing operations in December 2004. We are now serving 7 destinations from our hub in Jakarta, and have to date carried more than 840,000 guests” said Sendjaja Widjaja, President Director, Indonesia AirAsia.

With fares from as low as RM 9.99 one way on Indonesia AirAsia, and a traveling time of approximately 1 hour by air, the new Penang-Medan route will provide travelers with an affordable and alternate means of commuting conveniently between the two cities.

Introductory AirAsia low fares for Penang – Medan are from RM 9.99 / Rp 29.999 one way, or Kuala Lumpur – Surabaya from RM 79.99 / Rp 239.999 one way - applicable only on Indonesia AirAsia operated flights bearing flight no: QZ 7614 and QZ 7613.
