Christof Ehrhart (40) is to head EADS Corporate Communications from 1 January 2007. He will take over from Christian Poppe (54) who will continue to serve the company as a senior advisor, the company confirmed on Thursday.

Ehrhart will be in charge of all internal and external corporate communications and report directly to the CEOs Tom Enders and Louis Gallois. He joins EADS from Schering AG (Berlin) where he is responsible for global Corporate Communications since 2004 after having been Director Corporate Affairs & Public Relations at JT International Germany GmbH (Cologne) until 2003. Before he had been in charge of Corporate Communications for various media businesses with the Bertelsmann Group (Gtersloh), including international communications of AOL Bertelsmann Europe and Bertelsmann Online. He has a doctorate in political science and had worked as a journalist before joining Bertelsmann.

Poppe has been leading EADS Corporate Communications since the creation of the European group back in 2000. Between 1995 and 2000, he held the same post with DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG, one of EADS predecessor companies which he joined in 1989 as Head of Corporate Media Relations. Poppe steps back at his own request for health reasons.
