The Conrad Bangkok enhances luxury limousine service

Travel News Asia 20 March 2006

The Conrad Bangkok is enhancing its luxury limousine service with the latest technology for comfort and safety through an investment of more than Baht 4 million.

Each of the hotel's 23 limousines has been installed with navigation system GPS (Global Positioning System) or GPS Street Pilot C320 from ESRI (Thailand), a leader in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This system has accurate map information with 1:4000 sharpness showing a very clear and detailed map of Bangkok, the suburbs and all provinces in the country, and 1:20000 for a wider and clearer view of the main highways and roads, including updated information about places of entertainment, restaurants, sightseeing, parking, nearest gas station, etc.

Along with the installation of the automobile navigation system is the Fleet Management System or Tracking System, a device supplied by MappointAsia. This equipment is connected to the computer of the hotel’s Front Office Division to monitor the position and route of the vehicle. It also has the capability to check at all times the “actual time” position of an automobile and its running speed. The system has automatic signals which are activated at the reception desk when the limousine is passing the installation points. This signal enables the hotel staff to be ready to welcome the arriving guests.
