New Luxury Boutique Hotel to Open in November in Chiang Mai

Travel News Asia Friday, 20 October 2006

The Tea Vana Chiang Mai is set to open its doors on November 15, 2006 in Chiang Mai, the Northern Capital of Thailand. The luxury boutique-style property is located in the heart of the City on the River Ping, yet sits away from the hustle and bustle and is only 10 minutes walking distance from the famous Night Bazaar.

The property is managed by ike hotels, the small and charming boutique brand of The Unique Collection of Hotels and Resorts, featuring 30 rooms, and is the second hotel, after Tusita in Chumphon.

Just launched in December 2005, ike hotels provides full management services in Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, Training and Quality Assurance, Accounting and Finance as well as all operational departments for owners of independent hotels and resorts. Peter Kaelli, Chief Executive Officer of The Unique Collection, said, “We are delighted to have our first property in the North of Thailand and the style of Tea Vana Chiang Mai truly matches the concept of our company managing unique independent properties, and offering our guests one more special destination and product.”

The property is built in a unique contemporary Chinese style and is ideally located between the Nawarat Bridge and the Iron Bridge, on the banks of the Ping River, just a 15 minute drive from the airport. It is an ideal spot for couples, families, honeymooners and the adventurous that want to stay away from concrete blocks and large chain hotels.

With 30 well-appointed rooms and suites the style of Tea Vana, as the name suggests, is based on tea, as the owner Khun Nattawan Vanapitak is in fact also the owner of “Tea Vana” a company producing a large variety of teas and Spa products based on special recipes with a multitude of tea leaves and flavors. Tea Vana Chiang Mai consists of four room types: Fruit Tea, Tea Flower and High Tea rooms ranging between 26 to 32 square meters, and a lavish 105 square meter White Tea Suite with a large bedroom, living room with working desk, dining room, a large round Jacuzzi tub and a private staircase entrance directly from the lobby.

All units have individually controlled air-conditioning, mini bar, in-room safe, rain showers hairdryer, IDD telephone, DVD player and satellite TV. The Tea Vana Spa has 3 treatment rooms with a large variety of body and facial treatments with their specially created Tea Vana for either couple or single treatments. It is located in the center of the resort, next to the refreshing swimming pool and an al fresco all day dining lounge overlooking the courtyard.

One of the main features of the resort is the “T.Bar”, where guest can savor a great variety of teas accompanied by delightful snacks and pastries. The restaurant on the second floor, overlooking the river, offers delightful fusion cuisine with a Chinese touch--open for lunch and dinner. Breakfast featuring Asian and Continental dishes is served on the terrace. Another special attraction is the Dressing Room, a boutique with fashionable clothing and accessories.

In addition to the rich culture of Chiang Mai, there is incredible shopping and antiquing, beautiful natural attractions, golf, and a full calendar of Thai festivals that Chiang Mai is so famous for.
