New Low Cost - Long Haul airline Oasis Hong Kong Airlines recruits Cabin Crew and Pilots

Travel News Asia Wednesday, 19 July 2006

Hong Kong’s newest airline, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines, which aims to transform the long-haul travel industry by mixing low-fares with personalised options, has just hired 213 flight and cabin crew.

Stephen Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Oasis Hong Kong Airlines, said, “Consumers are increasingly price conscious and I believe we have a business model - the first of its kind in Hong Kong - that not only delivers on price, but offers passengers a flexible and high quality service - a term not often associated with low-fare travel.”

Mr. Miller went on to say, “Excellent remuneration packages including medical insurance and modern accommodation will be provided to the seasoned crew - all of whom have years of experience with some of the world’s top-rated airlines, providing Oasis Hong Kong Airlines’ customers the highest levels of service in the industry. In addition, all flight and cabin crew must also undergo rigorous training as well as periodic refresher courses, ensuring that, be it service or safety, our guests will be well looked after.”

The newly recruited crew comprising 28 pilots and 185 cabin crew to date, were selected from the best candidates in both Hong Kong and around the world. This is set to grow to 70 pilots and 200 cabin crew in the near future. The rigorous selection process involved candidate screening, one to one interviews and a panel interview. As well as qualified relevant experience, the airline also looks for people who are enthusiastic, confident, warm, approachable, well-mannered and happy.

Oasis Hong Kong Airlines also recently appointed Jardine Aviation Services Group for ground handling services. Jardine is well-respected in the aviation industry as a leading independent ground handling agent at the Hong Kong International Airport, providing integrated seamless passenger and ramp-handling services to over 40 major reputable international airlines.

“Our collaboration with Jardines is a win-win partnership to ensure cost-effective and efficient crewing and flight operations. We share a single-minded enthusiasm to launch Hong Kong’s first low cost, long-haul airline and to contribute to building an aviation culture in Hong Kong,” said Mr. Miller.

Taking off from October 2006, Oasis Hong Kong Airlines is pioneering a fresh approach to provide passengers the best choice in low fare, long distance travel. The airline is committed to making long-haul flights accessible to more people. Travellers can choose to fly non-stop business or economy from Hong Kong to London, from as little as HK$1,000 one-way, with further destinations planned.
