Accor launches 'Exclusive Media Offer 2006'

Travel News Asia Friday, 19 May 2006

Accor is offering travel writers a chance to stay in one of its hotels in Asia as part of this year’s ‘Summer Sale 2006’ promotion around the region.

“Accor Exclusive Media Offer 2006’ gives travel media a complementary two-night stay with breakfast (single occupancy) at any hotel in Asia, in exchange for destination news or feature coverage of the host country.

Accor Director of Marketing – Asia Evan Lewis encouraged travel writers to take up the offer and promote destinations where Accor hotels are located to help build awareness for the host country or city.

“The media offer intends to generate editorial coverage for destinations and countries where our hotels are located. It should also help increase awareness about our ‘Summer Sale 2006’ promotion which runs concurrently, and the excellent rates available at our hotels around Asia.

“Clearly this will help journalists also develop a better understanding of Accor hotels around Asia and our hotel brands. It is meant to be educational, but it does give individual hotels the chance to showcase their product and services for the media.”

Hotels are being encouraged to offer journalists complementary cooking classes (when applicable) and spa treatments, fitness centre privileges or meal vouchers at flagship food and beverage outlets.

The ‘Accor Exclusive Media Offer 2006’ is available from now until 31 August, 2006 to all bonafide travel trade press (including MICE), newspaper travel editors, consumer travel magazines, business travel magazines, lifestyle magazine travel editors, wire service feature writers and freelance travel reporters. Online media should be full time of a single company or publication and not freelance.

Some restrictions do apply, public holidays and long weekends are blacked out and peak season allotment is limited. Popular hotels in busy destinations have a limited number of stays offered on a first come, first serve basis.

One-night extensions are available at hotel’s ‘media rate’ for possible three-night maximum stay. Each member of the media is limited to one visit to one hotel during the validity period.

The rooms cannot be booked directly with the individual hotels, therefore travel media with a working relationship with any Accor PR representative or office worldwide, should contact Accor's Bangkok office directly attention to Tom Racette. Those writers without professional contact at Accor are asked to submit a letter from the editor or publisher and scanned sample of published work with bi-line to Tom Racette.
