Gulf Air extends E-Ticketing to More Destinations

Travel News Asia 18 January 2006

Gulf Air has extended its recently-introduced e-ticketing facility to cover more destinations.

Now, passengers travelling between Abu Dhabi/London, Abu Dhabi/Bahrain/Singapore/Sydney Abu Dhabi/Muscat, Muscat/London, Muscat/Bahrain/Singapore/Sydney and, Muscat/Abu Dhabi will be issued with e-tickets on these routes.

"The facility will be gradually extended across the entire Gulf Air network in a phased manner and will be completed by the end of 2007, complying with the IATA deadline" said Vice President Information Technology Jalal Al Qassab.

Gulf Air's e-ticketing facility, which was launched in November 2005 on its London-Bahrain-Singapore-Sydney routes, has been gaining popularity as more and more passengers have started using the facility because of its inherent benefits.

With e-ticketing, passengers are no longer issued a conventional paper ticket, which can be stolen, lost or simply forgotten. An e-ticket is a secure form of ticketing that makes passengers' travel plans less cumbersome and more efficient.

No more visits to Gulf Air ticket offices - reservations can be made over the phone or online and passengers can then be sent an Itinerary Receipt with a copy of the reservation details.

The e-ticket cannot be lost as the booking always remains in the reservation system and can be accessed at any time. Therefore, there is no hassle with acquiring police reports for missing documents.
