Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi to refurbish Rooms and Construct New Ballroom

Travel News Asia 15 March 2006

Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi is to use a budget of some RM15 million to refurbish guestrooms and the resort’s ballroom. The refurbishment of the rooms and the construction of the ballroom will commence in early March with the rooms being completed by June 2006 and the ballroom by March 2007.

General Manager, Mr Francois Sigrist said, “Pelangi is one of the most established resorts on Langkawi and enjoys strong support from return customers. It is important that we continually maintain and improve our facilities for our guests. Although our guestrooms are very well maintained, we have made the decision to upgrade to a contemporary look to suit our tropical location and to also introduce some new guest facilities in line with worldwide hospitality trends”.

The rooms will be refurbished with the best local products for a more spacious feel. This includes structural changes with lighter wood tones and fabrics.

“Guest comfort is always our first priority and as the work on the chalets will be completed in stages, guests will not be inconvenienced.” Sigrist added.

The development on the ballroom is timely as Langkawi is developing into a popular Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions venue with an increasing demand for mid to large conference facilities.

The new ballroom will have an ‘open concept’ so that conference delegates can enjoy the natural lighting in a lush tropical surroundings whilst enjoying the comfort of the air-conditioning and the best audio visual facilities. The ballroom will be constructed with a glass bay window on one wall.
