Celebrities from Madame Tussauds Hong Kong on Show at Taipei 101

Some of the world’s most famous celebrities were spotted hitting new heights this week – at Taipei 101, the world’s tallest building located in Taipei.

Superstars David Beckham, Bruce Lee, Marilyn Monroe and Teresa Teng - or rather their incredible wax likenesses created by Madame Tussauds Hong Kong - had visitors doing a double take as they went on display against a spectacular backdrop of Taipei’s bustling metropolis for the first time.

The Madame Tussauds Hong Kong celebrity showcase, which runs during the Chinese New Year holidays until February 5, provides an opportunity for visitors to rub shoulders with their idols and be photographed with them to capture the magical moment.

Kelly Mak, Head of Marketing & Customer Services of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong said, “Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is currently undergoing renovations so this is a perfect opportunity for our celebrities to visit Taiwan. The Taipei 101 celebrity showcase provides a sneak peak of the unique, fun and interactive experience the new-look Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will offer visitors.

“Since opening in August 2000, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has entertained thousands of visitors from Taiwan and we look forward to welcoming them back for an entirely new experience in Spring 2006. Until then, we hope that everyone will enjoy meeting some of our attraction’s most popular celebrities at Taipei 101.”

Visitors can ‘meet’ the celebrities at the Observatory of Taipei 101 on the 91th floor until February 5, 2006. Admission is NT450 adults/NT$420 concession.

The NEW Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

As part of the Peak Tower Renovation, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is undergoing a HK$20 million expansion project, building a brand new entrance area on level 3 of the Peak Tower and adding a further 7000 sq. ft of exhibition space.

The exciting new-look Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will reopen in Spring 2006 and will feature over 100 famous celebrity wax figures from Asia and the rest of the world. Visitors are expected to delight in the additional audiovisual highlights and interactive experiences woven into the attraction where they can putt with Tiger Woods, sing with Joey Yung and star in a Rembrandt painting.

Madame Tussauds will present five themed areas including Hong Kong Glamour, Historical & National Heroes, World Premiere, Music Icons and The Champions.
