Travel News Asia Wednesday, 12 July 2006

To celebrate the "Leonardo da Vinci" exhibition at Florence's Uffizi Gallery, Sofitel, the prestige brand of Accor hotels, is offering a “Leonardo da Vinci VIP" package until 6 January 2007.

The package at the Sofitel Firenze consists of two nights in a superior double room with buffet breakfast and taxes included as well as a book tracing Leonardo da Vinci's works, a welcome drink at the "Il Michelangelo" bar and two VIP passes to fast-track entry to the museum.

Regarded as one of the oldest museums in the world and boasting four centuries of history, the famous Uffizi Gallery brings together an incredible collection of works of art produced by Italy's most famous painters (Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, etc).

Access to the first floor of the building which houses these treasures is restricted to just a few thousand visitors a day.

In a former historical palace on the famous Via De Cerretani, the Sofitel Firenze occupies an ideal location in the old city, just 5 minutes away on foot from Santa Maria Novella station and fashionable shopping streets. Situated in the San Lorenzo district, 300 metres from the cathedral, the riches of Florence and its Renaissance treasures can be found on the hotel's doorstep.

To receive a VIP pass, reservations must be made upon arrival at the hotel and are subject to availability.

The "Leonardo da Vinci VIP" package includes:

- Two nights in a double room at the Sofitel Firenze with buffet breakfast, taxes and a welcome drink for two included.
- An illustrated book paying homage to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci.
- Two VIP museum passes with no waiting time.

The "Leonardo da Vinci VIP" package is priced from €477 for two people.

The Uffizi Gallery is open every day except Monday, from 8.15 a.m. to 7 p.m.
