Marco Polo Hotels to manage New Hotels in Wuhan and Chengdu

Marco Polo Hotels has signed a management agreement for two new properties in China – the Marco Polo Wuhan in Hubei and the Marco Polo Chengdu in Sichuan.

Developed and owned by Wharf Estates China Limited, Marco Polo Wuhan and Marco Polo Chengdu will be part of a multi-purpose complex that will comprise of a hotel, residential towers and retail center.

Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province and is the most populous city in central China. For centuries, the city has been the primary hub of trade and transportation in the region.

Opening in 2007, the Marco Polo Wuhan is ideally situated at the edge of an urban riverfront park with panoramic views of the Yangtze River.

Conceived by the internationally acclaimed design firm, LTW Associates of Singapore, Marco Polo Wuhan will offer 375 rooms and will be amongst the largest and most well-appointed accommodation in Hubei Province. The hotel will include Marco Polo’s signature Continental Club, serving the most discerning business travelers. Food and beverage offerings will include the signature Café Marco, a Chinese restaurant, a specialty restaurant and the lobby lounge.

Together with a wide variety of function rooms, the hotel will offer a 350-seat Grand Ballroom, an ideal venue for corporate meetings and glittering social events. An internationally branded Spa will offer authentic health and beauty treatments. As part of the recreational complex, the hotel will also feature a swimming pool, fitness center and tennis courts.

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province, habitat of the giant panda, a key city for business and tourism and is the main inland access to Tibet.

Opening in 2009, the Marco Polo Chengdu is located in the heart of the Central Business District of the city. 

The hotel’s 425 guestrooms and suites, each with average sizes of 47 to 49 square meters, will feature four fixture bathrooms and designer inspired appointments combined with state-of-the-art audio visual and communications systems. A wide variety of food and beverage options will be offered including Café Marco, a Chinese restaurant, a specialty restaurant, an entertainment bar and stylish lounges.

Marco Polo Chengdu’s state-of-the-art meeting and banqueting facilities will be designed to accommodate up to 650 guests. At the internationally branded Spa, guests will be able to enjoy tailor-made spa and beauty treatments. The hotel will also feature a swimming pool, fitness center and tennis courts.
