Garden Hotel Suzhou re-opens after 260 million RMB makeover

The 4-storey Garden Hotel Suzhou has unveiled a fresh and elegant new look after a 260 million RMB makeover which has taken two years to complete.

The revamp was financed by Guotai International Group with the aim of transforming the Garden Hotel Suzhou into a leading 5-star business hotel in Suzhou, a city often referred to as the Venice of the East.

Occupying a spacious property strewn with rock formations, waterways and lily ponds, Garden Hotel Suzhou also possesses a storied past. The hotel, reminiscent of an historic Chinese manor, was formerly the private residence of Kuomingtang leader Chiang Kai-shek and, in 1952 became a state guest house receiving over one hundred Chinese and international political leaders.

The Garden Hotel Suzhou occupies an area of 48,000 square meters and features ancient trees, some up to 500 years old. The property offers one of the largest green areas of any hotel in the picturesque city. The beautifully landscaped garden is a mesmerizing labyrinth of natural surroundings comprised of numerous scenic spots.

The hotels minimalist design concept is of a home and garden theme, harmonious with nature. The 238 room property offers one Presidential Suite; two Ambassador Suites; and an Executive Floor with 60 Executive Rooms and 93 Deluxe Rooms. All rooms are elegantly appointed and decorated with modern amenities.

The hotel boasts a series of signature restaurants: Lotus Pavilion which features authentic Suzhou and Cantonese cuisine with a spacious private room overlooking the landscaped gardens. Fresh fish and other local and seasonal specialties from the Yangtze River are a must try. Breezy, surrounded by a lush garden, offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet complemented by an a la carte menu. Classic Western and Asian snacks are available all day while specialties from around the world feature at lunch and dinner. Rhythm Lounge is a casually elegant bar showcasing renowned wines and spirits from across the globe. A live band plays nightly, making it the perfect place to unwind after work or while on vacation. The Executive Club Lounge is a Western lounge offering coffee, tea and assorted snacks.

The hotel is also equipped with a modern business centre, a luxurious spa, comprehensive conference facilities and numerous boutiques.

Garden Hotel Suzhou is located at the heart of Suzhou. To its east is the Suzhou Industrial Park and to its west is Suzhous newest and most hi-tech Industrial Development Zone. The hotel is adjacent to numerous traditional Chinese gardens, and renowned World Heritage sites. The hotel is just 45 minutes from Hongqiao Airport and a 15 minute drive from train and bus stations.
