Avis now available through Galileo’s travel agency portal - Galileo Leisure

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 11 April 2006

Galileo International has added Avis Rent A Car to its Galileo Leisure portal, which is available in over 40 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. Avis joins Alamo and Europcar as participants in Galileo Leisure, doubling the number of car pick-up locations and cities available. This is the latest addition to the unique travel agency portal that is delivered by Galileo in conjunction with gta.

Galileo Leisure provides travel agents with the ability to book car hire in over 7000 locations, in 1880 cities, in 57 countries worldwide. The car content is delivered in a very simple interface with only 3 broad car categories, enabling agents to book quickly and easily. Another key element of the car offering is the automatic selection of the lowest available rate from multiple suppliers, ensuring the agent can be confident they are offering the best price to their customer.

In addition to the simplicity of the booking process are the unique driving tips that gta produce for all countries where rental is offered. These tips include driving regulations (speed limits, seat belts, parking); details on general road conditions and tolls advice; documentation required; fuel type for each car; even information on fines and penalties.

The additional car content on Galileo Leisure adds to the existing wealth of content already available to agents on the Galileo Leisure Portal which includes over 72,000 hotels, 3,000 apartments and villas, 3,500 transfers, 4,300 sightseeing tours (including 1,300 private sightseeing options) and 300 travel guides.

“We are delighted to be able to offer even more rich content to our travel agency customers,” commented Mr. Enrico Bisello, Director of Product Management, Asia, Cendant TDS. “The response to Galileo Leisure has been extremely positive in the marketplace and by adding Avis to our car offering we are continuing to offer unrivalled leisure content.”

Galileo Leisure, including the driving tips, is available in 22 languages.
