General Manager movements at One&Only Resorts

Mauro Governato, current General Manager of One&Only Kanuhura, Maldives, is to take over the position of General Manager of the prestigious One&Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius. Mauro will be replaced as General Manager of One&Only Kanuhura by Jan Tibaldi, current resident Manager of One&Only Le Touessrok, Mauritius.

Mauro Governato’s new role at One&Only Le Saint Géran, Mauritius, will commence on 1 November 2005. During his tenure in the Maldives, Mauro helped establish One&Only Kanuhura as one of the premier resorts in the region, and has won many awards and accolades for the company. Mauro first joined One&Only in early September 2000, to serve as Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food & Beverage at One&Only Le Saint Géran and in April of 2003, he was promoted to Resident Manager.

Jan Tibaldi will commence his new position at One&Only Kanuhura on 1 October 2005. Jan has been Resident Manager of One&Only Le Touessrok for the last year where he joined from Sandy Lane, Barbados. Jan served as Resident Manager for two years at this luxury spa and golf resort. Prior to that, Jan worked with several hotel companies in various continents including Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Gerárd Sintes, who has been General Manager of One&Only Le Saint Géran since 1999 is re-joining his former company, Shangri-La, to take on a regional role in Thailand.

The secluded and tranquil island resort of One&Only Kanuhura, in the northeastern part of Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives, will reopen with a fresh look on 15 October 2005 following a multi-million dollar four-month refurbishment. The resort has 100 private villas, each opening directly to the white sands and turquoise sea. This luxury resort also features an award-winning spa, two bars and four restaurants. Water sport activities include windsurfing and waterskiing, as well as extensive scuba diving facilities and PADI certification courses. There are also island-hopping and marine safari excursions, and big game fishing, as well as tennis and squash courts, and a  games room with table tennis and billiards. A fully supervised children’s club, with a dedicated shallow pool and sand playground, offers daily activities for younger guests and babysitting facilities.

Celebrating its 30th birthday in 2005, the One&Only Le Saint Géran is located in its own 60-acre private peninsula on the north-east coast of the Mauritius. The resort features 163 suites and one villa, and the award-winning Givenchy Spa with eight treatment rooms. One of the resort’s three restaurants is acclaimed Michelin chef Alain Ducasse’s Spoon des Iles, serving innovative global cuisine. The property also boasts one of the finest wine cellars on the island. For golfers, there is the nine-hole Gary Player golf course as well as the nearby Bernhard Langer designed One&Only Le Touessrok Golf Course. Activities such as Hobie Cats, kayaking, laser-class sailing, windsurfing, catamaran cruises and cross-country cycling are also available.
