Pacific Blue to launch Sydney-Fiji Flights

Travel News Asia 8 March 2005

Pacific Blue is to launch new direct flights between Sydney and Nadi four times a week from Monday 27 June 2005 to compliment its existing flights between Melbourne-Nadi and Brisbane-Nadi which began in September last year.

Virgin Blue Chief Executive Brett Godfrey said, “Pacific Blue is a very strong and enthusiastic supporter of Fiji and we are happy to be providing a stimulus for the sustainable development of tourism in Fiji which has experienced a boost since we launched our high quality services with a range of affordable fares.”

Pacific Blue has been working closely with both the Australian and Fijian governments to expand its Fiji services and while grateful for the support of both governments, is calling on the Fijian Government to provide a more even playing field in terms of eliminating ongoing delays for routine approvals.

Brett Godfrey continued, “We may be seen as the new kid on the block in this region and we recognise that Air Pacific and its commercial relationship with Qantas makes it a well respected competitor. However, we strongly believe that Pacific Blue has delivered on its promise to stimulate both the tourism sector and the Fijian economy.”

Fares between Sydney and Nadi on Pacific Blue will start from AUD $159 one-way on the Internet plus taxes, fees and surcharges of AUD $90.

“We are very much looking forward to expanding our services between Fiji and Australia and look forward to enlisting the support of all parties to achieve more low fares and increased tourism for the South Pacific region”, Brett Godfrey finished.
