British Council and VisitBritain launch online contest in Singapore

Travel News Asia 7 March 2005

The British Council and VisitBritain are offering Singaporeans the chance to win a trip to England through today's launch of an online contest.

Anyone can join simply by logging into: https://www.britishcouncil.org.sg/greatscavengerhunt/, answer a simple question and then to increase the chance of winning send as many referrals as possible.

The contest ends on 15 April and the two entries with the highest number of referrals will then bring their travel pal to fly to London to take part in the Great Scavenger Hunt from 10 to 17 June 2005. Both teams will be assigned tasks which will include collecting clues and solving riddles along the way. The team which performs best will win an additional $1000 worth of UK souvenirs.

"This contest is part of our plans to have a lot more online activities for young people in Singapore," said Les Dangerfield, Director, British Council. "We have plans to introduce even more fun-filled online activities this year, so watch this space!"

"VisitBritain is delighted to be working with the British Council on this initiative," said Alex Mawer, manager for VisitBritain South East Asia. "June is a great time to visit Britain and weve put together a fantastic programme for the lucky winners to have a wonderful time there!"
