American Express expands Leisure Travel Service Network in China

Travel News Asia 6 June 2005

American Express now offers its leisure Travel Service Network (TSN) in 100 locations throughout Mainland China, covering all major provinces from China’s northernmost province of Heilongjiang to the far reaches of Tibet. This is a significant increase from the original 20 locations launched in 2003 and reinforces American Express’ sustained and long-term commitment to China’s growing leisure travel market.

American Express signed a franchise agreement with China International Travel Services (CITS) in 2002. The agreement enabled American Express to expand its network of travel offices in Mainland China by appointing CITS as the only lead franchise partner, to identify and acquire like-minded partner agencies to join the fastest growing leisure travel network in China. American Express provides leisure travel service to Cardmembers and customers at more than 1,700 travel office locations in 130 countries, through partnerships with leading travel agencies around the world.

Mr. Wallace Shah, Director of TSN Asia Pacific, noted, “The expanded TSN locations in Mainland China connect customers to a worldwide network that addresses their needs whenever and wherever required. The expansion also demonstrates that the services provided by TSN are well accepted by the customers both at home and abroad. More and more people around the globe are realizing that China is a ‘must visit’ destination, and we’re well positioned to make their holidays and trips as care-free and convenient as possible.”
