Navigant International buys SYNERGI Travel Australia and New Zealand

Travel News Asia 6 January 2005

One of the world’s fastest growing travel management companies, Navigant International, is buying SYNERGI Travel Australia & New Zealand.

The purchase means that from February 7, 2005, SYNERGI’s wide ranging operations in Australia and New Zealand will assume Navigant’s world wide trading name, TQ3Navigant, and become the only corporate and governmental travel management firm to operate under this banner.

Mr Ross Irving, the managing director of SYNERGI Travel Australia & New Zealand, said “This is a tremendous endorsement of our company and brings exceptional benefits and opportunities to our clients and suppliers alike through our association with Navigant International.

“Navigant International’s success in developing and providing efficient and effective distribution and management tools for a diverse range of travel users from the largest corporations and government agencies to the smallest private operations will greatly enhance business travel competition in Australia and New Zealand.

“We look forward to joining forces with one of the most well respected companies in our industry.”

Mr Irving said “Navigant and SYNERGI share a commitment to maintaining a competitive edge in the global travel marketplace, while bringing value, improved efficiencies and delivering considerable savings to our clients which were the primary reasons for our decision to team up with the Navigant organization.”

Navigant Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edward S. Adams said “We believe this is an excellent financial and strategic transaction for Navigant, as it further expands, without overlap, our existing TQ3 global operations into the Asia/Pacific region, which is a natural fit for our client base.

“This acquisition realizes several goals of both Navigant and SYNERGI, the most important of which is industry-leading customer service. We expect the combined entity will also benefit from a more broadly diversified client base, as well as a heightened market presence and expanded opportunities in the global marketplace.”

There will be no change of personnel and management as a result of this purchase. Mr Irving has signed a 2 year agreement to remain in his role.

Following settlement of the sale, the only visible evidence of change will be in adoption of TQ3Navigant signage, livery, documentation and new email addresses by the existing SYNERGI Travel operations.
