Airbus contributes to Tsunami Disaster Relief

Travel News Asia 6 January 2005

Airbus is contributing at least one million Euros to the International Red Cross, and putting into place a series of initiatives in order to facilitate the International Red Cross’ daily work in the field.

The aircraft manufacturer is putting one of its A300-600 Super Transporters, nicknamed “Beluga”, at the disposal of the International Red Cross. This aircraft will allow to transport to the regions affected by the Tsunami disaster the necessary emergency material, as well as exceptionally bulky equipment such as helicopters and water purification devices.

“On behalf of all the Airbus employees, I would like to express our sincere condolences to all those who have been touched by these devastating events. Our thoughts go out to the families and friends of those who were affected,” said Noël Forgeard, CEO and President of Airbus. “We want to contribute to the aid operation as well as provide relief in these tragic circumstances.”

“Asia is an extremely dynamic region and we are confident of its ability to rebound and continue as one of the most attractive tourist and business regions of the world. Airbus will do its utmost to contribute to this in any way possible.” Mr. Forgeard added.
