Evason Phuket Resort to host Race Week 2005

Travel News Asia 5 July 2005

The Evason Phuket Resort has confirmed it will continue its tradition of hosting the international-standard Phuket Race Week, despite the slow-down of visitor arrivals following the tragic events of 26 December 2004.

“While some organizations have backed away from sponsorship commitment, we see this is an opportunity to support the local communities who have had a significant challenge over the past six months”, said Evason Phuket general manger – Alasdair Junor. “We need to move forward and re-establish Phuket as the premier Thai vacation destination.”

The Evason Phuket Race Week presents a week of sailing events from 28-31 July [dates amended], culminating in a four-day regatta. With 32 boats currently entered, the seascape promises to be a cacophony of colourful sails. The regatta will be operated from the lower terrace of the Evason Resort, and will have shuttle boats from the resort’s jetty to Chalong.

In addition to the four-day regatta, there will be two days of dinghy racing from 10:00 through to 15:00. Waterfront drinks parties will be the venue for  prize-giving every evening, with large cocktail parties to open and close the Race Week.

Special promotional rates at Evason Phuket Resort commence at just 3,560 Thai Baht for an Evason Studio Room including buffet breakfast for two. Evason Duplex Pool Suites begin at just 10,570 Baht including breakfast; and a luxurious Evason Pool Villa from 17,310 Baht including breakfast. A third person is just 900 Baht additional with 550* Baht for breakfast. Rates are subject to taxes and service charge.
