New Management Team at Dhoni Mighili in the Maldives

Travel News Asia 4 April 2005

Per Aquum Resorts & Spas has appointed David and Jacqueline O’Hara as the new management couple for Dhoni Mighili in the Maldives.

Prior to taking this position David held the role of Executive Chef to His Majesty King Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan. During his three year tenure he was responsible for the organisation and execution of Royal events and Government Banqueting operations, the preparation of varied and innovative daily menus, the recruitment of national and expatriate personnel, establishing benchmarks and consistency of services between palaces and implementing cross-training and team-building programmes to maximise skills and abilities.

David has also enjoyed key management roles across the world in leading hotels and restaurants such as Hayman Island Resort Australia, Royal Pines Resort Australia, Clarke’s Restaurant London and The Salty Plum Restaurant Australia.

David has a strong Food and Beverage background and in addition to his role as Management Couple with Jacqueline, he will also head up the Dhoni Mighili kitchen as Executive Chef, creating daily mouth watering dishes.

Jacqueline’s background has predominantly been within the management side of the hotel industry, having held positions as Spa and Health Club Manager for Le Royal Hotel, Jordan and Company Manager for M.V. Circa Luxury Cruises, Australia. This experience has enabled her to gain a thorough knowledge of all areas of operations including recruitment, training, food and beverage, spa and reservations.

Whilst in Australia, Jacqueline and David completed an extensive course in Executive Residential Management at the Australian Butler Training School. This has given them an in depth understanding of all aspects of private butler service including protocol and etiquette, service philosophy, housekeeping, workplace safety, financial management, communications, valeting, food and beverage service, security and private and residence management.

Tom McLoughlin, Managing Director of Per Aquum Resorts & Spas said, “We are delighted to welcome David and Jacqueline to Dhoni Mighili and wish them every success with their appointment. With their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm, David and Jacqueline will ensure Dhoni Mighili remains at the forefront of the luxury travellers mind, offering a service that is second to none and a very private affair.”

Dhoni Mighili offers a new concept in island indulgence: luxury boat accommodation aboard traditionally built yet luxuriously appointed dhonis; a thakuru (butler) to pamper guests 24 hours a day; the freedom to roam the Maldives, travelling wherever and whenever guests desire, and the facilities of a secluded marina island retreat, offering guests complete freedom to enjoy time on land and sea. Each 65ft traditional Dhoni boasts an inviting king-sized bed with Frette linen and goose down duvet, fully fitted kitchen with SMEG kitchen appliances, Philippe Starck bathroom fittings and a sunbathing deck with silk cushions. Facilities on the island include island bungalows, restaurant, shop and Sen Spa. Dhoni Mighili is based in the Ari Atoll, south west of the capital of Malé.
