Starwood relocates Regional Sales and Marketing Conference to Phuket

Travel News Asia 3 March 2005

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has moved its regional Sales & Marketing Conference, one of the largest of its kind for the company, to Phuket. Originally planned to take place in Kuala Lumpur, the conference will now be held at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket from 8-9 March, 2005.

The Sales & Marketing Conference will be attended by 140 delegates from 10 countries in Asia, comprising senior hotel management executives including General Managers, Financial Controllers, Directors of Revenue Management, Directors of Sales & Marketing, Public Relations Managers, Starwood Global Sales Office associates and other members of the sales and marketing team. The delegates represent the hotel brands under the Starwood group, including St Regis, The Luxury Collection, Sheraton, Westin, Four Points by Sheraton and W Hotels. This annual conference is focused on delivering the company strategy and objectives, learning about alignment, and leveraging the Starwood tools and systems to drive market share.

“We made the decision to move this major conference to Phuket as we believe that Phuket is as ready as before with its high quality resources and facilities for large group meetings. We hope to let our customers know that our properties are eager and prepared to welcome visitors and show them the gracious hospitality that Thailand is world-renowned for. We have also embarked on a series of marketing programs directed at all our key customer segments around the world to ensure they understand the real situation on the ground. The sooner business returns, the sooner the communities rebuild,” commented Oliver Bonke, Vice President for Sales & Marketing, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific.
