Al Jazeera Mobile Prepaid Cards now Available on Qatar Airways

Travel News Asia 3 February 2005

Al Jazeera Channel in association with Al Majaz Telecom Company has signed an agreement with Qatar Airways to provide airline passengers with latest news from Al Jazeera Channel through the Al Jazeera Mobile Prepaid Card. First Class passengers travelling on the twice-daily Doha – London Heathrow route will be able to receive latest news from around the world by registering on the Al Jazeera Mobile Prepaid Card. The service will eventually be available on other European routes over the next few months. Al Jazeera Mobile Prepaid Card is available in areas where people cannot register for Al Jazeera Mobile service through the local communication operators.

The cards will be available for sale onboard Qatar Airways’ in-flight duty-free service and passengers will be able to subscribe to whichever news service they choose on arrival at their final destination. Subscribers will be able to receive Breaking News, Political News, Business & Economic News, and Sports News in both English and Arabic anywhere in the world.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said, “Qatar Airways is delighted to be able to provide its most loyal customers with an invaluable service while they are on their travels. Al Jazeera is a well-known international broadcaster and we are happy to be associated with a brand that excels in providing an up-to-date news service.”

Commenting on the agreement signed between Al Jazeera Channel, in association with Al Majaz Telecom Company, and Qatar Airways, Al Jazeera Marketing Director Mr. Hamad Al Nuaimi stated, “Al Jazeera Channel has established itself as a global news broadcaster. Thus working with these two companies provides an opportunity to offer news service to our viewers anywhere in the world and, wherever their destination may be.”

There are three ways to register for the Al Jazeera Mobile Service using the Prepaid Card. Firstly, through dialing the number written on the back of the scratch card and following the voice instructions in English or Arabic before choosing the desired news category. Secondly, via internet, by logging onto the Al Jazeera Net website, www.aljazeera.net, or Al Majaz Telecom website www.almajaztelecom.com and following the instructions. Thirdly, through direct contact with a customer service representative by dialing the number on the prepaid card.
