Viiveck Verma appointed Managing Director, Abacus India

Abacus International has appointed Mr Viiveck Verma as Managing Director, Abacus India.

Based in Mumbai, Mr Verma has overall responsibility for Abacus' India operations including driving business strategies and ideas to serve the needs of Abacus' customer in India.

Mr Verma brings over 14 years of experience in sales, marketing and management to the position. A proactive planner with expertise in strategic planning, market plan execution, account management and skills in P&L management, Mr Verma has a proven track record in streamlining workflow, evolving effective operational procedures and creating a teamwork environment to enhance productivity.

Prior to joining Abacus in January 2005, Mr Verma worked for a leading United Kingdom business process-outsourcing firm leading the company's operations in India. Mr Verma is also a respected figure in the Global Distribution System (GDS) arena, having spent four years in several key leadership positions in the travel industry.

Stuart Crighton, Regional Director of South-West Asia, who has been actively involved in increasing Abacus' pan-Indian network and establishing the Regional Office in India will be leaving to pursue personal interests. Mr Birch said, "During his tenure, Stuart's team transformed Abacus into the emerging GDS of choice in the region. We value his contributions and wish him all the best for the future".
