Search ASIA Travel Tips .com 30 September 2005

In support of the worldwide breast cancer awareness campaign in October, Japan Airlines is designating three flights on its busiest domestic trunk routes on 1 October as special ‘’Pink Scarf Flights’’ to help launch the campaign appeal in Japan.

The symbol for the global breast cancer awareness campaign is a pink ribbon. To publicize the Pink Ribbon campaign, which aims to raise funds globally for cancer research as well as increase public awareness of breast cancer, JAL cabin attendants on the three flights will wear matching pink scarves and aprons.

Passengers on the three JAL flights will receive pink ribbon badges and campaign information.

Of the three ‘’Pink Scarf Flights’’, two are between Tokyo and Sapporo and the third is on the Tokyo-Sapporo route. These routes are among the busiest air routes in the world in terms of passengers carried and some JAL flights, including the three campaign flights, are made by a special domestic version of the Boeing 747-400 aircraft, with 546 seats.

In addition to the special campaign flights, JAL is featuring the breast cancer awareness campaign in the October domestic edition of SKYWARD, the airline’s in-flight magazine.

The Pink Ribbon campaign symbol was originally launched by cosmetic company Estee Lauder, and is now recognized worldwide. The campaign has been featured in Japan since 1994. JAL has been a supporter since 2004.
