Newmans Holidays to expand to US Mainland with new Holiday Programme

Travel News Asia 30 November 2005

Following its successful entry into the Pacific Islands and Hawaii, Newmans Holidays of Australia is expanding again, this time into the massive US mainland market.

From December 2005, Newmans will offer a comprehensive and competitive programme to 67 destinations in mainland America, a destination which attracts more than 500,000 Australians each year, and continues to achieve strong growth.

Newmans will also offer, through partnerships with six trans-Pacific airlines, travellers a choice of non-stop flights between Australia and the US mainland, or combination packages which include stopovers in Fiji, Tahiti or Hawaii.

“The US mainland is a natural progression from our current markets throughout the Pacific,” said Melissa Watt, National Sales Manager for Newmans.

“Of the half million Australians visiting the US mainland every year, 50% spend time in California, 32% see New York, 17% visit Nevada and 8% go to Florida,” said Ms Watt.

“Our aim is to offer the biggest and best programme from Australia to the USA, and to become a one-stop shop for these popular destinations and many others, from Albuquerque to Zion National Park.

“And with our strength throughout the Pacific Islands, we can also combine the USA with some of the world’s finest tropical holiday locations”

Travellers visiting only the US mainland will be offered a choice of Air New Zealand, Qantas and United Airlines, while those wanting to include a Pacific stopover will be able to fly with Fiji’s Air Pacific, French Polynesia’s Air Tahiti Nui or Honolulu-based Hawaiian Airlines.

Travel agents will be supported by a specialist support team for the US mainland.

And until 31 January 2006, travel consultants can earn for themselves a A$20 Myer shopping voucher for each adult passenger booked on a Newmans USA air and land package.

An eight-page flyer will be released to travel agents throughout Australia early in December, ahead of the main 70-page brochure, to be introduced in January, featuring hundreds of holiday suggestions in mainland America.

Introductory offers include five days at Disneyland Resort in California, from just A$1895 per person, twin share, including:

- Return air fares to Los Angeles with Air New Zealand
- Four nights twin share accommodation
- A two-day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper ticket, enabling travellers to cross between the original Disneyland theme park and Disney’s California Adventure, and
- All applicable pre-paid taxes.

This includes a saving of A$150 per person for travel between 17 January and 31 March 2006, when booked and paid for by 20 December, 2005.

From just A$199 per person, Newmans offers two-night extensions to San Francisco or Las Vegas.

And there are other two-night extension deals to destinations including Hollywood / Beverly Hills (from A$299 per person), Santa Monica (from A$278 per person), San Diego (from A$258 per person) and New York (from A$566 per person).

Packages are limited at these prices and some conditions apply.
