Second Phase of Development underway at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa

Travel News Asia 29 June 2005

The JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa has commenced an expansion program with its second phase of development which is scheduled for completion by March 15, 2006.

Villas, Pool, Pub, Cooking School, Restaurant and Putting Green

In addition to a further 84 luxurious two bedroom villas for the popular vacation club the resort will add a third swimming pool with views of the Andaman Sea. The pool will feature multiple levels and a stunning design by award winning design architect Bill Bensley.

The second phase of the resort also sees the addition of an up-market Cooking School, a Thai Restaurant, and a new “blue pub”, the concept for which is not being unveiled until opening. A further extension of the existing pitch and putt golf range is also included in the development where guests can pitch over a stream onto the champion green designed by the Blue Canyon Country Club.

Further Spa Expansion

Additionally, a further six spa suites will be added, bringing the total of spa suites to 16. This is the second expansion of the Spa since opening.

“We are very excited about the additional facilities on the property”, said Craig S. Smith, General Manager. The additional pool will be like our very own Garden of Eden, with multiple water features. Romantic lighting will cover the landscape and be divided by a spectacular stream. The cooking school will be stunning with lots of teak, large centre columns, nestled into the landscape and with beautiful sea views,” he continued.
